(SOLVED) How to repair deleted desktop?

I stupidly accidentally deleted the desktop of my MGA9 (not the desktop environment, but the opening page of MGA9).

Even the trash is gone, as are all my desktop folders and files.

Is there a way to restore the desktop? I couldn't find info on the forum.

Thanks in advance!

Marc.

How did you delete them, by pressing the Del button ? Or with a command as rm Desktop/* ?

In the former case, you'd need to restore the trash. Although you don't mention what desktop environment you're using.
For plasma see the previous thread: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=14810

In the later case, you'd need to restore your own files/documents from a backup. The default shortcuts on the desktop can be easily restored.

Thanks Doktor,

I think I have to bear my own defeat.

It's a KDE environment, and I hit the DEL key too fast. The system even did warn me: too many files for the Thrash. I did not listen...
(BTW I was deleting an entry in Home called Desktop. Thought it was just a link, but the system immediately deleted the real Desktop folder.)

The complete desktop, with all its files and folders was gone.

Now busy for a long evening to restore the files from my backups. Lesson learned....

If you only hit delete, everything is still in Trash and you could easily restore it as mentioned in the above link.

Please don't forget to mark the thread as solved, by editing the subject of the first post and prefix it with [SOLVED], thanks in advance.
