[SOLVED] Flameshot not working after upgrade to Mageia 9

Flameshot is a screenshot program (installed through MCC -> Software Management -> Graphics -> Utilities) which I regularly used without problems in Mageia 8. After recently upgrading, I began to open Flameshot, at which point some kind of configuration warning was displayed. I neglected to make any record of the precise wording of this configuration message, but I am sure it was regarding configuration with respect to Flameshot.

Subsequent to that event, Flameshot does not work anymore and that warning has not appeared again. I have tried uninstalling then reinstalling this program, without any improvement. Would appreciate any assistance.

Hi there, it might help if you could add some more details. What desktop environment do you use (GNOME, Plasma, XFCE, ... ?) and also do you use a normal X session (which is the default) or a Wayland session for the graphical server ?

Also, what output do you get when you start flameshot from a terminal ?

I'm using GNOME and Wayland. I'd be willing to switch from Wayland to X windowing...would appreciate some guidance on how to accomplish that change.

Code: Select all
$ flameshot gui
Warning: Ignoring XDG_SESSION_TYPE=wayland on Gnome. Use QT_QPA_PLATFORM=wayland to run on Wayland anyway.

It dawned on me to select GNOME X at the log-in screen. Flameshot works now.
