Hauppauge PVR 1212

This sounds a bit strange, but here goes....

I have a really old Hauppauge PVR 1212 capture device. It works fine in Windows with my video camera (HDMI -> component) on OBS v29 with the Hauppauge driver.

However, it does not work under OBS V29 for Linux (I'm using Mageia 9) There is a Linux driver for it (hdpvr) for it. It has been a kernel module for years. OBS V29 for Linux shows it as being there....I can select it as a source. But it has no input or output...just a black screen.
Does anyone have any idea why?

Thank you.

The output of
Code: Select all
lspcidrake -v
for that card would be useful.

I suggest you try installing Mageia 8 which is the latest stable version.
I have 2 video grabbers : input composite and S-video , output USB. Using OBS Studio (tainted version) on several laptops with no problems.
Selecting the video source open properties I have to select the correct input (composite or S-video) that is all.
Also in settings (bottom right) you may tweek some parameters of your choice .

For testing only I have one Mageia 9 Beta 1 installation and just now tried to install OBS Studio but it failed maybe because I choose the tainted version.

Regards.
