rsyslog or syslog-ng?

Hi,

I'm trying to install zoom in Mageia 8 but I would not like to install its rpm package. I've downloaded their tar.xz package instead.
Upon launching its binary I get the error message about the lack of libcef.so which is provided by syslog-ng in Mageia 8.
Then, to install syslog-ng I have to uninstall rsyslog that is currently installed.

Is there any known issue related to syslog-ng or any reason why Mageia 8 does prefer rsyslog?

Thanks in advance

For sure some historic reasons. You shouldn't have any problems if you exchange rsyslog/syslog-ng.

The Fedora RPM installs just fine and works perfectly without any additional tricks. We have a wiki page how to install Zoom under Mageia. As the english page is heavily outdated i link here the german page which is up to date. (I won't update the english page as the creator doesn't like it if you correct his pages  ).

You can also install Flatpak and use it to install Zoom and easily keep it updated.

Thank you sturmvogel for the update on the german version.
Yes it is a bit irritating when people donate knowledge and not let other help.
But my note on flatpak is kept in the english page. Maybe you can add it to the german?

Thanks. I can understand some German writing, but you may not understand if I try to write in German ;)
