[SOLVED] change boot option to xfce

Postby flink » Dec 22nd, '21, 11:25

I have activated the GNOME display manager. But since this time the boot hangs in the Mageia screen. I want to reactivate Xfce again.

How can I do this?

Hello,
You can launch :
drakedm
from a console. You will get an interface in text mode to choice one of the displaymanager which is installed. Select another one except GDM.

I have now booted in the Mageia Recovery Mode. There I have logged in as root and executed drakedm .
I have switched to XDM and rebooted.

Strangely now it boots GNOME successfully.

change DM to
Code: Select all
lightdm
either via drakdm or MCC =>boot option.
reboot and at login, along the top of the screen towards the right, there is an icon to chose the active desktop. choose XFCE

or MCC =>boot option.

How do you do this when the boot process is frozen?

No, with XDM there is no option available to choose any other desktop during the login process.

This issue has been solved. But before no boot has been possible with GDM and GNOME. And I could not switch to a login console either.
