[Solved]Install Discord

Hello,

I got a new computer at work, and I decided to try to use it like my own, with mageia.
I managed to install Mageia without much difficulties, but when it comes to install tools to work, it's a bit more complex.

Especially, my question now is about discord.

I tried to download the package from the site, but without success. The sound is not working, neither the video.

I tried also the appimage version https://appimage.github.io/Discord/ but that doesn't work either. I get no microphone detected and no video as well.

Any tips ?

Thank you
Pierre

Hi,

I had pulse audio already(fresh mageia 8) but most of the lib were not present. Atomic for example.

It's working great now.

Thank you.

FWIW, the flatpak version works just fine here.

https://flathub.org/apps/details/com.discordapp.Discord
at the bottom "Command line instructions"
Code: Select all
flatpak install flathub com.discordapp.Discord

Simply clicking the install button on the website might not work - depending on whether you have discover or gnome-software installed and setup, which are the main GUIs which also support flatpak.

I have plasma-discover installed.
When i on flathub.org click an "INSTALL" button to install an application, the web browser (Firefox) ask what to do with the file, default is to open with Discover, I accept.
Next, Discover throws up a dialogue asking "Device to open /tmp/the_application.flatpakref" with a dropdown selector with no content.

What am i missing?

(Whishing to improve https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Ways_to_inst ... ms#Flatpak and possibly https://flatpak.org/setup/Mageia/)

Flatpak cli works nicely, and In Discover i can see installed apps and run updates.

Can't really reproduce here. When I click the install button the first time, it will download the .flatpakref file. I select "always open files of this type" and then open it, it will then pop up discover with discord preselected.

Although I don't use discover, because it's still pretty buggy, unstable and crashes pretty often, and I also don't need it. Just have a look at
