[SOLVED] GRUB states Mageia version wrong

Postby hosadeeb » Apr 19th, '21, 02:28

Dear Mageia,
I had had a silly problem when I upgraded from Mga 6 to Mga 7: GRUB displayed the installed version as Cauldron, whereas it was the regular one (using the mga upgrade tool). I paid little attention to the glitch, back then.

Now, after upgrading to Mga 8, GRUB still insists on displaying "Cauldron 7"!!!! Even after two kernel updates...

I looked at the files within /boot and /boot/grub, but found no specific files where the name of the distro was mentioned.

Could you point me in the right direction?!

Thanks a million in advance.

You may not have the correct grub theme installed. Do you use grub legacy or grub2 ?

I also have this same problem. When I was running Mga7 the boot menu said "Cauldron". Now I am running Mga8 it says "Magia 7".

Code: Select all
[dennis@noob ~]$ grub --version
grub (GNU GRUB 0.97)

I'm not sure if this has been fixed for grub legacy. You could try to reinstall (urpmi --replacepkgs --replacefiles) mageia-gfxboot-theme.

But IIRC I fixed this on my box by simply switching to grub2 via drakboot.
