System instability, xfce4

Postby Bhu » Apr 16th, '21, 17:33

Hello,
After turning off / on the computer and logging in, suddenly i found the Xfce4 desktop has disappeared from the screen, I can only access to the system form a graphical option by a right clicking on the screen.

I updated the system again and this time i added all the options in the repositories. [xfce4-power-manager still installed].

Yesterday everything was working very well, I had even turned off / on the system several times checking its stability ... it was fine, till now :o

EDIT: Plus, i did not see anything at repos about 64 bit everything is 32 bit

I had to uninstall the system Mageia / Xfce4 it is totally unstable, the ISO was 64 Bit, the repositories that were downloaded in the installation are 32 Bit, there were no later options for the 64 Bit download ...

And this is the desktop I know ... I'll come back to try again in the future, in another version ... 8-)

Thanks and best regards.

For me it works very stable. On RPi4 and on my old ASUS MB.

Which mirrors and repositories you use?

Works great for me on several laptops! No fail.

Something definitely went wrong there! And that is probably the cause of your problems.

Try putting the Live xfce ISO an a USB, with persistent partition so you can update it. Then you can test anytime, on any PC, and install when you find it is working :)

I am occasionally writing on a long wiki page about Live, hope to finish, eh, any week...

Hi morgano. Why don't you make it public? That might attract contributors and definitely it'll be easier to find.

I think it's good as is already. You can still polish it and recheck.
