How can I find out if a motherboard is compatible?

Postby banjo » Apr 15th, '21, 17:12

I am thinking about building a new computer to install Mageia 8 onto. I am looking at a Gigabyte motherboard, GIGABYTE B460 AORUS PRO. Is there some place I can go to find out whether or not Mageia 8 will work on that board? In particular it would be nice if I could find out about drivers for the on-board Intel graphics since it is now very difficult to find dedicated graphics cards, but overall compatibility is important as well.

Is there a database or a website where I can look this up?

Thanks,
Banjo

Not really, no. And the onboard graphics would be the least worrying, because for intel there's only one driver.
You might have more issues with ethernet and/or wifi depending what variant you buy.

FWIW here's a result for this board with a recent linux distro: https://linux-hardware.org/?probe=d40236931f

Thanks for the pointer to the mint results.

I will see if I can find out more from The Google.
