Mageia 8 Install [Classic] random crash

Postby Spinnifex » Apr 13th, '21, 18:09

Hello

I had to install mageia 8 . Classic ISO with
Code: Select all
dd

Checked checksum.

First time everything went fine.
But second time and about 3 of 5 attemps
I get a error telling me that he can not generate symlinks.
Can reboot using Ctrl + Alt + Del
One time I get instantly a error because he can not read from HD0 where I have a
windows installation.

This was not rebootable with above method.

One time the installer hung when he want to copy files.
The display said 'calculating time' but nothing happens.

So chance to install crash is not low for my copy :(

I used a Jetflash 16GB USB3 Stick.

You may want to try another USB stick, that is definitely not normal. Or the harddrive which you are installing to could be defective.

Also you don't mention at which point in time the errors generating the symlinks happened, some more details would be helpful to comprehend what happened.

Hello

Thank you for your answer.
I use a Kingston 512 GB Solid State Disk M.2 pcie.

The worst crash happens immediately after the install begin. Just before he looks for USB devices.
When the red progress bar move symlink error occur.
The last error after choosing display manager.

Thanks
