[SOLVED] Mageia 7.1 Installation in Lenovo Yoga

Hi!

I am not succeeding to install the Mageia 7.1 in a Lenovo Yoga X390. I have tried changes in the BIOS (turn off secure boot, etc) and also the Classic Installation and the Live CD.... It always prompts the errors attached.

I appreciate if anyone give me some guidance how to correct this.

PS: I am not a programmer... just a happy user of Mageia and Linux enthusiastic.

What's shown in screenshot 2 is a direct result of the error displayed in screenshot 1. There is a read error on the install medium.

Are you using an external CD drive?

I'd suggest verifying the checksum of the ISO and then recreating the install media.

Hi,

There could be several errors, please check them:

1, Possible your downloaded media not full or has errors, download it again, and check checksum.
(my advice: https://www.mageia.org/en/downloads/get ... x86_64.iso)
2, if you wrote it to a CD/DVD disk, check if it is compatible your reader and can fully readable ( compare to image e.g. on writing )
3, if you wrote to HDD/SDCard/PenDrive, check it has no errors and compare to image

if all ok, you should make a memtest....

I am using an external CD drive (with updated driver).
I checked both midias before running and checksum were OK. I just created another one and the error continues.

How do I perform the memtest?!

You could try to write the image that you downloaded to an USB drive and try from that, that's also usually quite a bit faster.

For the memtest, if you boot in legacy mode, not in EFI mode, then it's in the boot menu directly below rescue system.

SOLVED!

Step by Step
1) did a memtest using the tools in the BIOS... it last 3 hours but confirmed it was OK.
2) create live pendrive using the "dd" command.
3) in the BIOS disable Secure Boot, Security of the Memory and changed the boot order to start with the USB-pendrive.
4) restart with the pendrive in the USB inserted... voila!....begin installation.

I'm happy that the problem was only the the bad media/media reader.... Thanks

ps. since about 52x cd writing most of the CD/DVD disk must be written in slower speed to make it readable on "any" reader.... And some of reader can read DVD+ or DVD- and if the disk is blue or green and if the media is original or just a cheap fake and is it rewriteable or not. So it can be fastidious...
