You suggestet to install
libwebkit2gtk4.0_37
(which contains the symbol webkit_web_view_new.)
Urpmi did not find this package, but a similar lib64webkit2gtk4.0_37 is already installed.
Please advice

Have you installed lib64webkit2gtk4.0_37, as doktor5000 suggested?

No reinstall, he's referencing an upgrade/repair install. Download one of the normal installer DVD images that matches your architecture (64bit for a 64bit system e.g.) and boot from that.
It will give you the option to "upgrade" your current installation. It should reinstall some missing basesystem packages, so that could help.

But you could also just reinstall all the packages that got erased. Check if you only get the list of packages with

Code: Select all
packages=$(journalctl --since="2020-12-20 14:00" --until="2020-12-20 22:30" | awk '/erase/ {print $7}' | sed 's|:||g' | sort -u)
echo $packages

Then install them
Code: Select all
urpmi $packages

You might get a few choices/questions if newer versions of those packages are already installed, but it should be fine for the most part.

My system is a dual boot - Windows 10 and Mageia
I reinstalled from live Mageia 7.1 without formatting the root and home partitions.
When I boot only windows can be selected. No other choice is available.
Please advice

Well, I did an" install" from a live 7.1 dvd before I saw doktor5000 advice. No Mageia chioce after boot.
I than "upgraded" it with version 7.0 Mageia dvd, and as expected, towards the end it presented the grub boot opion almost immediatly.
Unfortunately Mageia is not displayed on boot, but only Windows.
Is it important to mention that both Mageia and windows share the same 240G SSD?
Awaiting for help

During the installation, what did you select in the bootloader stage? https://doc.mageia.org/installer/7/en/c ... oader.html

Does your system boot in UEFI or in legacy mode? You might need to readd a UEFI entry for Mageia if you boot in UEFI mode.

1.Tried to "upgrade" but failed to complete boot grub2 due to missing files (drak???)
2. Completed installation 7.1 from 64M iso dvd (not sure if legacy or EFI) including format of the system partition while keeping the "home" partition intact , but still can only boot into Windows.
I noticed that when asked where to write grub2, it offered sda and not SDB where I installed the system.
I, also, want to add that due to Microsoft licensing rules, the original 500M hdd on which the original windows 10 was installed, is still connected, BUT! is disabled in the BIOS.
The BIOS can see: DVD drive, Windows and Linux residing on the same SSD.
I probably confuse myself with so many parameters to take care of.
Bottom line I am unable to boot into linux now.
I will appreciate any help.

The system boot in UEFI. I checked Windows and yes it boots EFI.
The efi directory is on a partition on the same disk
I used Mageia 7.1 that displayed EFI on startup. I installed the system on the same SSD, when at the end Grub2 suggested to select esp which I agreed to.
Yet, after all that, There is no selection at boot.
I am frustrated and do not know how to proceed
Any clue?

You can choose where it should be installed, so if it defaults to the harddrive that is supposed to be disabled, then select the other one.

Also, for the failure to boot grub2 due to missing files, you should add some details or a screenshot on the actual error message.

Thanks
I made some progress as follows:
1. Physically disconnected the HDD
2. Started Windows, backed-up my Linux home to external drive
3. Started Mageia 7.1 live cd and asked to install on the SSD
4. When asked, I selected "Custom" partition, erased the 2 Linux partition and than selected auto allocation .
5. Linux installation completed successfully. After reboot I entered administrator, user name and passwords, restarted and could login ONLY to Mageia.
6. I checked if Windows is still alive by enabling Windows to be 1st boot in the BIOS.
7. Changed BIOS priorities again and could boot and login to Mageia.

Bottom line:
In order to boot into Linux, I have to list it to be the first in the BIOS boot selection.
If I need Windows, I have to change the BIOS to have Windows selected first.
This is very inconvenient, and a big change from what was 3 days ago.
Can you suggest a procedure where both Mageia and Windows will be displayed upon startup??

Continuation:
I am able to live with the current situation but tried to restore my comfortable setup, i.e. dual but with selectio of either Mageia or Windows.
1. Reconnected the HDD and enabled in the BIOS
2. The BIOS, in my case, enable to assign priority either to the "legacy" SSD or to the EFI HDD.
3. When SSD has the priority, I can select at BIOS which will be first: Mageia or Windows. When boot I see only the one that was selected in the BIOS
4. When HDD =EFI has priority, I do see after boot the selection scree as in the attached image, but when selected, I get an error
5. Return to the selection scren, selected "E" for edit
6. When Mageia was "e" selected I got the details as in image 2
7. When Windows was "e" selected I got the details as in image 3

I apologize for the poor quality

Obviously I could not copy the text directly, thus I took pictures and attach below
I understand, now, that the EFI HDD, when connected, pointed to the none EFI SSD from where I could select the desired OS.
Can you help be restore it?
Thanks

For a full reinstall but keeping your files, use custom partitioning, and select your existing /home partition as the new /home and do to NOT format it.
