Well, then back to that step. You need to check the journalctl logs, why the boot stops. I've showed you the relevant part the last time. Now you need to check it yourself, because you didn't post any logs from this boot.

Yes, at that time you were missing the -devel package for kernel 5.6.6 - the package which you just installed now, so that issue should have changed, so you need to look at the current logs, as you didn't post new ones.

Hi. Excuse me, because, due to my low level of English and Linux, I don't understand some things, for example, this log.

To recap: After a urpmi kernel-desktop-devel-latest without incident, I have started Mageia in "recovery mode" with the latest kernel (in normal mode it still freezes). I have logged in as root. I have entered systemctl isolate graphical.target and, when it is blocked, I have entered console ctrl+alt+F2. There I have put journalctl -ab > /tmp/journal.log, and I have got the following output.

The only thing I understand is that, despite all the turns I have made, I continue to receive this:
may 21 12:10:13 Mageia dkms-autorebuild.sh[1012]: nvidia-current (430.64-8.mga7.nonfree): Installing module.
may 21 12:10:13 Mageia dkms-autorebuild.sh[1012]: Kernel devel files for 5.6.6-desktop-1.mga7 not installed. Cannot install this module.

Well, the problem still exists. It's pretty easy. You currently try to boot

kernel-desktop-devel-5.6.6

But you have installed kernel-desktop-devel-latest, which is responsible to always install the latest kernel-desktop-devel package. That in turn has installed

kernel-desktop-devel-5.6.13

You are still missing kernel-desktop-devel-5.6.6 and as long as that is the case, the module cannot be built.

I am seeing that kernel-desktop-devel-5.6.6-1.mga7 is available for installation from the software manager itself.

But if I install it, my doubt / fear is: Will the initial access with the 5.1.14 kernel be removed (as it has happened in other installations)? Because, remembering, it is the only one that works on my system.

No, the same way as it did not remove access to 5.1.14 when you installed

kernel-desktop-devel-5.6.13-5.mga7-1-1.mga7
kernel-desktop-devel-latest-5.6.13-5.mga7

-devel packages usually mostly contain just some header files / source code.

Hi.

After installing kernel-desktop-devel-5.6.6-1.mga7, I have started correctly with this version, and it is the one I am using right now.

I will spend some days using this version and observing the behavior of the system, to finally assign this topic as "solved".

At the same time I want to thank you for the patient help that you have dedicated all this time to a super newbie like me and, from today I'm indebted to you. How can I return this favor to you?

I don't want something in return, you already said thank you, that's totally fine for me. :D
Although you can have a look at https://www.mageia.org/donate/

You might want to look at the kernels you have currently installed, and make sure to have both
kernel-desktop-devel and kernel-desktop-devel-latest installed, so you will always receive the latest kernels AND keep the kernel-devel package in sync.

You might want to post the output of
Code: Select all
rpm -qa | grep kernel| sort
again so we can get that sorted out.
I'd also remove all the older kernel packages which were not working, and keep the oldest one that was working all of the time (5.1.14) and one or two most recent kernels.

The output is as follows:

Code: Select all
kernel-desktop-5.1.14-1.mga7-1-1.mga7
kernel-desktop-5.3.11-1.mga7-1-1.mga7
kernel-desktop-5.5.15-3.mga7-1-1.mga7
kernel-desktop-5.6.6-1.mga7-1-1.mga7
kernel-desktop-devel-5.3.11-1.mga7-1-1.mga7
kernel-desktop-devel-5.6.13-5.mga7-1-1.mga7
kernel-desktop-devel-5.6.6-1.mga7-1-1.mga7
kernel-desktop-devel-latest-5.6.13-5.mga7
kernel-desktop-latest-5.5.15-3.mga7
kernel-firmware-20190603-1.mga7
kernel-firmware-nonfree-20200316-1.mga7.nonfree
kernel-userspace-headers-5.5.15-3.mga7
virtualbox-kernel-5.3.11-desktop-1.mga7-6.0.14-6.mga7
virtualbox-kernel-5.5.15-desktop-3.mga7-6.0.20-1.mga7
virtualbox-kernel-5.6.6-desktop-1.mga7-6.0.20-2.mga7
virtualbox-kernel-desktop-latest-6.0.20-2.mga7

It is striking that there is no kernel-desktop-devel for version 5.1.14 which has been the only one that never stopped working.

This is what I would suggest to remove, as you mentioned that those kernels don't boot and they're not current. Simply run this as root:
Code: Select all
urpme kernel-desktop-5.3.11-1.mga7-1-1.mga7 kernel-desktop-5.5.15-3.mga7-1-1.mga7 kernel-desktop-devel-5.3.11-1.mga7-1-1.mga7 kernel-desktop-latest-5.5.15-3.mga7 virtualbox-kernel-5.3.11-desktop-1.mga7-6.0.14-6.mga7 virtualbox-kernel-5.5.15-desktop-3.mga7-6.0.20-1.mga7

Afterwards, make sure that the -latest metapackages are installed:
Code: Select all
urpmi kernel-desktop-latest kernel-desktop-devel-latest

Then, post the output again of
Code: Select all
rpm -qa | grep kernel | sort

Not installed right now, maybe it was present in the past.

After doing everything indicated.

rpm -qa | grep kernel | sort

Code: Select all
kernel-desktop-5.1.14-1.mga7-1-1.mga7
kernel-desktop-5.6.6-1.mga7-1-1.mga7
kernel-desktop-devel-5.6.13-5.mga7-1-1.mga7
kernel-desktop-devel-5.6.14-2.mga7-1-1.mga7
kernel-desktop-devel-5.6.6-1.mga7-1-1.mga7
kernel-desktop-devel-latest-5.6.14-2.mga7
kernel-firmware-20190603-1.mga7
kernel-firmware-nonfree-20200316-1.mga7.nonfree
kernel-userspace-headers-5.5.15-3.mga7

You have kernel-devel packages installed for 5.6.13 and 5.6.14 but you don't even have that kernel installed ?

You're also missing kernel-desktop-latest

I am not sure why they are there, perhaps because they have been installed together with some application, which could be VirtualBox, or perhaps some other software. In any case, if I have installed them, it has not been in a conscious way. :/

Hi.
After the changes made, I have several days of use with Mageia with total normality, and without errors that freeze the boot.
I have also done what I had pending with doktor5000. ;)
Therefore, I can already put this post as SOLVED.
Thank you.

I just wanted to bring this subject to the top.

this error message is caused by switching on fTPM on mostly ryzen motherboards.

with the announcement of windows 11 expect to see many more of these, as people try to pass microsofts windows 11 upgrade test.

ive sent tmb a message about it to see if there is any possibility of a patch.

ive seen no instability myself in mageia 8 with this enabled, but the error message does persist at boot up.
