Mga7 freezes... where do I start looking for error ?

Postby vmunich » Jan 7th, '20, 23:26

Hi everyone,

sometimes Mageia7 freezes... sofar it has happened only with the same user, when surfing on the net using Chromium.
The only thing I can do is switch to TTY (Ctrl+Alt+F2), login as root and reboot

where shall I start looking in order to find the issue ???

Thank you
V

You can try htop in TTY. That might show memory issues, HD/SSD issues, low memory, runout process ...

Agreed.

If you are able to switch to a console at all, it is very unlikely that you really need to reboot. Instead, you need to find out what has gone wrong and just fix it. This often means stopping a program that is running away, or can require restarting the entire desktop.

htop is a good place to start.
