Old HP pentium 4 laptop works only with Mageia 5

The program Mageia 5 is the only one that makes a pentium 4 HP laptop to work. Win xp is not finding the wifi and is slow.
The version 6.1 and 7.1 are not working on a HP pavilion zv5330us laptop. Version 5 makes this laptop usable.
I need to get Google chrome but I do not know how to install it.
I never used Linux please help.
This is my first topic using the HP pentium 4 and wifi internet.

Hi there, it would probably be a good idea to split your request into two threads:
- one about how to get Mageia 6 or 7 running, you should probably add some more details because "are not working" are not really sufficient to help remotely
- another one on how to install Chrome, if your question isn't answered in our MAQeia for Chrome: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=2053

I have an AMD xp2400+ system that runs Mageia 7 on 512MB ram. not a speedy unit but usable.

best if you can provide the following from a terminal
Code: Select all
# free -m
this will give available ram
Code: Select all
lspcidrake
this will give an overview of your hardware
Code: Select all
lscpu
this will give more information about your processor
