[SOLVED] Mageia 7 Plasma does not work

A few days ago I installed Mageia 7. Installation is as usual.
When I restart the laptop the login sceen appears. Until here all is normal.

When I login using the choise Plasma the screen turns into horizontal moving colored bars.
Nothing kan be seen. Not usable at all!
When I choose ICE it works alltough very slow.

I tried to install a sencond time. Same result.

p.s. I used to have Mageia 5 and 6 on the same laptop.

In windows the screen resolution is : 1366 x 768
It is a multiboot system.

I'm experiencing a similar problem, although I'm running an installation in KVM. When trying to log in, the desktop (plasma) will begin to load, but then it logs out and I'm back to the login screen again. I was able to eventually log in, but I had to try about 10 times before it finally loaded. I've also noticed that I am unable to change the display resolution. It's set to 1024x768 and if I try to change it to anything else, it immediately reverts back to 1024x768. I installed xfce, and that seems to be working without issue. I can log in with no problems.

On Mageia 6 I had a similar problem with plasma, I could only log in if the display was set to certain resolutions, otherwise it would just reload the login screen over and over. On Mageia 7, I cannot even change the display resolution in plasma.

I just tried an install on a HDD, previously I installed it on a SSD. The new install doesn't seem to have the login problems of the previous install.

I posted too soon, the login problems reappeared. However, this time I got an error message in an x-window stating:

Could not start ksmserver.  Check your installation.

The desktop appeared to load ok with this error window open. Upon clicking "Okay", I was presented with a black screen.

I've discovered that if I log into xfce, then log out again, I can log into plasma. However, if I try to log into plasma right after a fresh boot, I cannot. It just keeps reloading the display manager over and over. Occasionally, I can login without logging into xfce first, but it takes many attempts and usually results in the black screen. I also tried switching from sddm to lightdm, it made no difference.

Now it works!

I made a new installation. This time I formatted the /home patition which I did not the first time, now everything seems ok.

So basically it was my mistake.
