Qownnotes

Hello

I'm new on Mageia, I come from Linux Mint.

I need to install QOwnNotes but I don't find it in the «Gestionnaire de logiciels».

The QOwnNotes site (https://www.qownnotes.org/installation) doesn't describe the installation for Mageia.

Do you think I can use the rpm for Opensuze or Fedora ?

Thanks in advance

Chi

It could work, but following the exact instructions on that site probably won't, because they both use some tools or make some assumptions that aren't correct in Mageia. That said, as far as I can tell, the application is in a single RPM package, so you might want to try downloading it manually

http://download.opensuse.org/repositori ... x86_64.rpm

and installing it (just open the downloaded file, or run the urpmi qownnotes-19.7.1-1.1.x86_64.rpm command in a terminal). You won't get automatic updates this way, but I can't think of a better solution right now.

If that doesn't work, you could try following the instructions for Building QOwnNotes (you'll probably need to install additional devel packages to compile from source)

You can try to install it in AppImage format.

Hye

- AppImage format : it's OK.
- http://download.opensuse.org/repositori ... x86_64.rpm : libQt5Sql5 has to be found somewhere and installed.

So, with AppImage, I can use all my old notes and write new.
But, I think it can be proposed by mageia, with all nextcloud apps.

thank you for your answered.

What do you mean by "proposed by Mageia" ? Proposed where ?

Yes it might be a good idea to package QOwnNotes, as we package NextCloud client (and server)
From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QOwnNotes :

QOwnNotes is a free open source (GPL) plain-text notepad with markdown support and to-do list manager for Linux, MacOS and Windows, that (optionally) works together with the Notes application of ownCloud or Nextcloud.

Hello,

I come back after a year on this post.

Actually, Qownnotes is not packaged by Mageia 7, and I use the AppImage.

Who can package it in Mageia ?

Thanks

Basically any packager. Please report that as a package request, after searching if it hasn't been reported yet already: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/How_to_repor ... ge_request

I see it is imported to Cauldron, so will be in Mageia 8 :)
