Updated WINE version?

Dear all,

The wine version available in the Mageia 6 repositories is 2.0, which is quite old, as current stable in winehq.org is 4.0. How about upgrading? Will M 7 ship with the current version? Or, is there a way to install newer versions, without building from source?

Thanks

Mageia 7 will ship with a different version, cauldron is currently at 4.0

You can get newer versions directly from winehq, check https://wiki.winehq.org/Mageia
They have up to 4.0RC versions if you really want to try the latest.

Your other option would be to rebuild a cauldron src.rpm under Mageia 6.

Thank you!

How can I test wine 4.0 in M 7 beta?

You can download Mageia 7 Beta 1 at:
https://www.mageia.org/downloads/prerelease/

Be careful! This is a beta, unstable release!!!
Safe way of testing is in a virtual machine, for instance using VirtualBox.

Thanks for the info and warnings. This is exactly what I did, with virtual box. But when I try to install wine, I get the following message:
Lo siento, no se puede seleccionar el siguiente paquete:

- wine-4.0-2.mga7.i586

("Sorry, the following package cannot be selected").
If I click again on the wine 4.0 checkbox, now I get more info:
Lo siento, no se puede seleccionar el siguiente paquete:

- wine-4.0-2.mga7.i586 (debido a conflictos con libgphoto2_6-2.5.22-1.mga7.i586)

(after the wine package it reads "due to conflicts with...")
Searching for libgphoto I only found
rpm -qa|sort|grep libgphoto
libgphoto-common-2.5.20-1.mga7

But when I try to install libgphoto2_6 I get
Lo siento, no se puede seleccionar el siguiente paquete:

- libgphoto2_6-2.5.22-1.mga7.i586 (debido a que no se satisfizo libgphoto-common-2.5.22-1.mga7.i586)

And this last library also cannot be selected. Moreover, the installed libgphoto 2.5.20 is x86_64 whereas the availablke version 2.5.22 is i586 (as wine)

So I am stuck. What to do?

Regards

Wait until all affected packages have been rebuilt, then try again.

OK, this means next beta?
By the way, after installed beta1 I got a message about update availble, but the update install failed with the message "curl output with 9" (more or less this text, but 9 is sure). I guess this also have to wait next beta

For the curl-message i would advise to open a new topic.
