[Solved] https://ml.mageia.org/ : spammer button blocked

Postby jaywalker » Jan 23rd, '19, 06:00

It has been like this for quite some time. I thought I had reported it correctly the last time I tried to read any list archive, some time last year.
I am subscribed to dev and discuss and a few others - can't remember which but qa is probably one of them.

Sympa seems to be broken for me. I have tried to pick an archive to read but all I ever get is a pointless "I am not a spammer" button and a flashing screen when I press it. I also tried logging in with my Mageia ID. Apparently that only works on bugzilla and here, and the place where I can view/edit my profile.

I am not desperate to use the Sympa archives, but I thought this configuration problem must be affecting others. Apparently not, at least not since July 2017 when something very like this issue was fixed. All I really wanted to do was find out if my post to dev, which was echoed back to me with a <SPAM> tag in the subject field, had been accepted.

Subject: <SPAM> [dev] re-building a kernel from rpm

Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong?

Richard

OK, I have an answer to the very much secondary "why SPAM?" question. It is my ever-helpful email provider; virginmedia. They seem to have a stupidly trigger-happy SPAM filter. I think it is based on a random number generator.

I got a reply from the dev mailing list (hooray!) and it was free from any superfluous editorial in the Subject field.

It's working for me, with or without logging in. What browser are you using?

The password I'm using is the one set at identity.mageia.org.

Likewise, I rely on the identity.mageia.org profile, though I have also tried following the prompt at Sympa by using my email address as the user.

My browser is Vivaldi 2.2.1388.34 (Stable channel) (64-bit). I will try updating it to the latest build (.1388.37).

For sympa, if the "I am not a spammer" button does not work, you may need to clear your cookies for sympa - although that should only apply if you used Sympa in the past, and if you were logged in then.
I've had the issue with the button not working, and that fixed it for me. Although I didn't get a flashing screen, it would just take me to the archive view again, as if I've not had pressed the button successfully.

Thanks again Dok, that seems to have done the trick. I must remember to manage my cookies more assiduously!
