hi

Mageia 6 on toshiba laptop with 2 gig ram. Trying to test lightdm using the command
Code: Select all
lightdm --test-mode --debug

Opens server in small window but with no lightdm. After closing window keyboard unusable and frozen, need to hard reboot.
Looked at the lightdm conf file and located section on xserver, specifically xserver config file.
How to I use that variable to test the lightdm display manager.
If you are looking for command output for lightdm can I pipe to file?

Thanks for help.

You are trying to start an X server session using lightdm in an already running X session, or what is your actual use case? Some context information would be helpful ...
Also, what in particular are you trying to test about lightdm, do you want to use it as display manager ?

I am currently using lightdm as my display manager. I would like to test new themes before I implement them. How can I manage the x server that gets started when I test lightdm.

The default systemwide config should be /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf and also /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/50-mageia.conf and the actual session that is started should be in /usr/share/xsessions
