I am experienced on Linux, and Mageia. But very new to using GIT as a source control utility.
The manuals, google searchs, and commands like "git config --system --list" say I should have a file called "/etc/gitconfig".
My system has git, and is up to date. But the file "/etc/gitconfig" does not exist on my Mageia system. See the following:
- Code: Select all

Linux HIvyTower 4.14.78-desktop-1.mga6 #1 SMP Sun Oct 21 20:31:12 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
[hank@HIvyTower ~]$ git config --system --list
fatal: unable to read config file '/etc/gitconfig': No such file or directory
