Mageia 5 freezes when I enter reboot from the shell

Hello all,

I am new to Linux and to Mageia
Whenever I try to reboot from the shell, the PC freezes and I have to power-cycle it

would appreciate any help

Do you actually use the reboot command, or how do you go about that?

Yes, this PC is kind of a server.
I need to access it by ssh most of the time
Using GUI is not an option and power cycling it is too much trouble for me

I've had times when the taskbar or other components froze, or times when I had msec too high and used "shutdown -h 'message'".
See if this works for you. at the moment forgot if it's message as 'now' or just now

shutdown -r now

The problem with just shutdown that its remote , if I can turn it on from the power I can power-cycle it
Its very difficult to reach for this server and need special access
