[SOLVED] no device for tape autochanger

Postby magfan » Aug 31st, '18, 12:26

Finally, I moved from mga5 to mga6 on one system with attached tape autoloader. But mga6 does not create a device for it. Under mga5 it was "/dev/sg4" but now there are no generic scsi devices at all (i.e., no "/dev/sg*"). The tape autoloader is "BDT FlexStor II" but the device "/dev/sch0" does not work. The package "mt-st" is installed.

Maybe because the sg module is not loaded at all? See e.g. viewtopic.php?f=7&t=10165

Thank you, that was the problem. I added the missing module "sg" to /etc/modprobe.preload.
