Mirror auto selection problem

Aria2 does not select mirrors based on what is most up-to-date. It might be a good idea to change this. Upon fresh install, I get errors stating that no metadata is found for the repositories (all of them). I don't know what mirror was automatically selected, but it was obviously broken. This might be a problem for new users who are trying out linux for the first time. I cut my teeth on Mandriva and Mageia shortly thereafter. This is a great distro for beginners, but the problem with the mirrors might concern some newcomers.

Hi there, aria2 does not have that information, whether a repo is up to date or non-consistent.
Although if a regular install fails to configure usable repositories, that should probably be reported via bugzilla, but you should add some actual details on what repos have been configured.

For the other part, feel free to take a look at https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Feature:Migr ... irrorBrain

I went to report this bug as you suggested, but I guess one of the developers must have read my post because now, on install, it asks me to choose a mirror. I haven't been prompted for this any other times I've done a fresh install. So, I guess this problem has an easy workaround now.

Ha! Well, maybe it's just an amazing coincidence then.
