[SOLVED] Dolphin forgets part of the file path

Postby Garthhh » Jan 21st, '18, 23:57

Mageia 6 KDE

Dolphin right click>copy to>SD card
on successive copies, the drop down of previous choices is fine
when I browse back to the same media, click on the SDcard on the sidebar, I have to start from dash [home]>run, click media>dash>SDcard
I'm not sure why the 3 extra clicks are required on this version of Dolphin?
I don't find any Dolphin preference to set this behavior

On the taskbar, choose "System Settings".
One of the choices available is "File Search", see if anything there helps.

Another one to look at is "Removable Media" - choose tab "Removable Devices" and select "on":
- Enable "automatic mounting of removable media"
- Mount all removable media at login"
- Automaticall mount removable media when attached"

Note: I can see why some media can probably be off. If you have a rapid SSD or even a harddrive, you really do not want to be spinning-up a CDrom, or enabling a slow USB or SD card.
SD cards also fit an odd category where their normal behaviour is more of an off, or only turn on when needed.
In any case, make sure you eject or unmount these devices to flush/close any open unfinished files before removing them, they are often slow to write to, and I have run into a lot of people who have lost files because they simply pulled-out a card or USB before the device was fully written/flushed/closed (windows, linux, other OS)
