I've just upgraded two machines from Mageia 5 to 6. For the most part things went smoothly, but I now have a problem on both machines that I have been unable to resolve. Both appear to concern pulseaudio.
Firstly, no matter what I do, I cannot get volume levels to "stick" over a reboot. Every time the machines are rebooted, the login chimes start at a volume level that shakes the foundations of the house! Once the machine has rebooted, I can adjust the volume to an acceptable level, but at each reboot they reset to 100%!
Part of the solution is to set flat-volumes = no in the /etc/pulse/default.pa file. In KDE 4, you could then go in to system settings / notifications and set the player level. This level would then "stick" over a reboot, however this option seems to have disappeared in Plasma 5.
So how do you set the default volume to an acceptable level?
The second problem is that all notifications are cut short. They appear to cut off about half way through. I am at a complete loss as to why this should be, or where to look for a fix!
Any suggestions gratefully received!
