I am running Mageia 5 64bit fully updated and dolphin 4.14.3 x86_64 which quite often hangs coming up with a failure to respond message usually when trying to move files or directory's. I also tried krusader 2.4.0 with similar results. Any assistance would be gratefully accepted.

From where to where do you move files or directory's? What partition and which filesystem, is it a regular harddisk or flash storage or some slow USB drive?
Does it actually copy when it does not respond, and how long do you wait for it to respond?
And when you run dolphin from a terminal, and then start your move/copy, are there any details when the freezes occur ?

It happens on /home an ext3 partition on a standard hard disk when selecting files or a directory and trying to move on the same partition and it fails to copy. I wait for the message that "dolphin is not responding" and click to continue waiting for another minute or so. Running from terminal I get following when starting dolphin.
Code: Select all
dolphin(3126)/kdecore (services) KServicePrivate::init: The desktop entry file  "/home/phil/.directory"  has Type= "Application"  but no Exec line
but nothing else.
I can now reproduce the problem it occurs if one of the files I am trying to move/copy has the same name as an existing file, what happens is when I get the "dolphin is not responding" message for the second time and continue again the warning about duplicate files appears but dolphin is still unresponsive.
