Touchscreen on Thinkpad X220 tablet

Hi,

I need help to get the touchscreen on my Thinkpad X220 Tablet working. Everything else works just fine, but a Tablet PC without a working touchscreen is a bit pathetic...

This is the information I found in HardDrake about it:
Identification
Vendor: ‎Tablet
Description: ‎ISD-V4
Media class: ‎Human Interface Device|No Subclass|None

Connection
Bus: ‎USB
Bus PCI #: ‎2
PCI device #: ‎4

Vendor ID: ‎0x056a
Device ID: ‎0x00e6

Misc
Module: ‎unknown

According to some searching on the Net ISD-V4 is a Wacom tablet. I installed all wacom related packages that I could find: plasma-applet-wacomtablet, wacomtablet, wacomtablet-kcmodule, wacomtablet-kded, x11-driver-input-wacom
However that did not help to enable touch input. Probably there is something I still need to configure or enable, but I don't even have a clue where to start.

Seems we need a patch to the wacom driver for that tablet:

Guess you should open a bug report about that one.

Thanks for the input doktor5000. I created the bug report as suggested: https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2811

Partial success! A package was created with a fix and a new wacom driver. Now it does work and I am able to configure the touchscreen in << KDE System Settings / Input Devices / Graphic Tablet >>.
However my touchscreen is still not yet really useful:
  • The input does not rotate with the screen, leading to the pointer going to a point mirrored vs. the center instead of where you point (type of mirroring being dependent on the rotation angle). I read somewhere that this is a known problem, but I could not find out yet how to solve it.
  • Stylus input works completely, but touch input does not allow me to select anything (double tap does not do anything), so impossible to scroll a scrollbar for instance. This makes touch input more or less useless, so only stylus input really works. Maybe this can be solved with a correct settings, but nothing I tried so far did the trick.
  • There is no on screen keyboard appearing when I go in a text field. In the software repositories I saw there are a few different possible virtual keybaords: matchbox-keyboard, gok (but that is for gnome and I use KDE, maybe it will not work so well with KDE), maybe others that I missed. Need to find out how to get that working and which is the best one;
