Installing Gambas fron the repos doesn't work

Go to viewtopic.php?f=7&t=11148 for the fix

I install Gambas 3.6.2, from the repos, yet when I try to create a new project from within Gambas, I get an error message about something missing. I uninstall and try again, but there are so many 'optional' packages, I don't know what I'm supposed to pick.It doesn't work. To work around this I tried to install virtual box, because Gambas provides a custom Linux distro OVA file for Gambas development, but as per my previous post, Virtualbox will not install from the Mageia repos either.

Any help, much appreciated. One way or another, I would like to get a working install of Gambas.

TIA

Joel

What does the error message state in particular? Please copy&paste it here.
And what do you mean by so many optional packages, which are those?

I will reinstall, to duplicate the error message when I try to run gambas.

As to all the options when you go to install gambas:

-devel
-examples
-gb-args
-gb-cairo
-gb-charts
-gb-clipper
-gb-complex
-gb-compress

And there are way more. I'm not some idiot. the program will not install in a working manner. i guess I'm stupid for thinking that maybe I need to pick all the correct packages because Mageia doesn't correctly understand the dependencies. Gambas is a Visual Basic like program for Linux. It is a Mageia supported package. How do I install a working version of a Mageia supported package from Mageia's repos?

This shouldn't be rocket science.

I add the sql lite package for gambas, and the package manager dies, done. Why offer it if it kills the install?

What options do I need to select to get a working install? This seems to be rocket science to get a Visual Basic like program. it's crazy.
