screensavers

I just noticed that the recent KDE upgrade removed screensavers. A quick search online tells me that this has been removed from the desktop.

Well, I like my screensaver. I want the display locked when I am not in front of it and a screensaver is just more interesting than a blank screen.

I deployed xscreensaver, but it has a downside. Because it is not integrated into KDE, it blanks the screen when I happen to be using the system to watch a movie. This is annoying, and the built-in version was always cooperative about not doing that when a movie was playing.

Does anyone have a solution to this? Either a way to keep xscreensaver from activating when a video is playing, or a way to get integrated screensavers back into KDE?

Could it be a similar issue as described in viewtopic.php?f=7&t=11071 ?
And which recent update removed screensavers? Why not simply install them again?
