Fat 32 localization + accent

Hi,

On my fat 32 disk, all my files with accent in the name have a problem.
Accents or special characters is changed by a? in dophin.

It's an internal hard drive.

I tried to fix a locale in the partition option, without any success.

Anyone can help ?
Pierre

When the FAT32 partition is mounted, please show the output of
Code: Select all
mount

Also which program does the mounting for you, do you use KDE or GNOME and how do you mount that partition?

Hi,

I use KDE.

With the command line, I have that :
Code: Select all
[root@postefixe pmithrandir]# mount -v /mnt/windows/
/dev/sdc1 on /mnt/windows type vfat (rw,noatime,umask=000)

Which plasmoid do you use for mounting? Default one, device notifier?
Normally those should get mounted as UTF-8, and then you'd have no problems with special characters, AFAIK.

It's an internal drive.
Mandriva do an automount on it, I click on the "archive" disk in dolhpin left list, that's all.

I think the problem is that UTF8 is not something windows use, so file name are not readable with that link.

I would say windows use cp1252.
