Terratec Aureon Xfire8.0 Sound almost unhearable

Hello,

I have bought a external soundcard for my laptop, since I have a 5.1 surround set and I almost don't use my desktop computer anymore.

The point is that it seemed to work perfectly, just connected it, detected by the system and select it from kmix as the preferred device. Everything worked fine, but just to make it perfect I wanted to configure the 5.1 setup and then somehow messed it all. Now I need to increase the volume almost to the top to be able to hear anything at a very low level.

The thing is that I only used kmix and pulseaudio controls to change the configuration, speakers setup, and engine used (vlc and gstreamer). Now I'm stuck, it doesn't matter what I try, I see that all controls are at a normal level but the sound is still to low. This problem is only afecting the terratec card, sound from internal soundcard and another simpler usb souncard I have, is perfectly normal, and the connections are alright, as explained this worked before.

Any ideas? Is there a way to just reset the configuration to defaults?

I'm running Mageia5 with KDE and all the updates up to day.

Thanks in advance.

You can try running alsamixer in a terminal and press F6 to see all controls and check if anything is at a much lower level.

So it was just it.

Alsamixer showed that volume for that particular card was decreased to almost 0. Setting it to a more normal level just worked.

Thamks a lot.
