Okular unable to read certain documents ...

I am having a problem reading my credit card statements from Chase Bank with Okular. Okular shows only the graphics on the pages but no text. Master PDF Editor 3 works fine and so does ePDFViewer. Anyone else having a problem with Okular? I depend heavily on Okular and need it to be working.

No issues with okular here. Probably more an issue with the PDF, not with okular.
You could try to report it as a bug, but you would probably need to provide a sample, which doesn't hold any personal data obviously ...

Over in the opensuse forum they think the problem is caused by an outdated poppler. You might try to find a newer version.

Thanks!!! I guess I just have to wait for poppler to get updated and use other progs until then.

If there's no bugreport then there probably won't be any poppler update.

I also have a chase credit card so I looked at the statement and, sure enough, much of the text was missing. The document has embedded type 3 fonts which I think is causing the problem.

Here is a work-around: Print the document "to a file (PDF)", save it to the file system then open that PDF. Okular uses ghostscript to make the new file which fixes the problem.

FWIW, also had a related issue today. Read a monthly invoice, and the document itself is fine, and some of the variable content is in a different font.
It really looks ugly and pixelated, partially barely readable. And the last invoice ~30 days ago looked perfectly fine, so something in between must have caused this regression.

Using a different viewer like e.g. evince also works just fine, document looks as expected and fonts are all perfectly fine.

That doesn't make much sense for us, as outdated or not, poppler did work just fine for us until this issue showed up.
