Solved: Add other distros manually to mageia bootloader

Postby lightblue » Dec 17th, '15, 19:59

Hi everybody,

I'm going to install opensuse Leap alongside my Mageia 5 and Windows 8.1,
The problem is that opensuse doesn't appear in mageia Grub2 bootloader and i cannot add it manually too,
I was told to use ext4 instead of btrfs filesystem, but it didn't resolve the issue as well.

PS1: in Opensuse forum, i was told to ask this question in Mageia forum, so i might find a better clue.

PS2: the output of my fdisk -l:

Oh,
I found the solution in changing the boot order in BIOS (set the third one (/dev/sdc) first)
I dunno why Mageia Grub2 didn't find the Leap, but changing the order in Bios made Opensuse to take the control, where all three OSs are available.

Might still be helpful if you created a bugreport for that against our grub2 so that we can see why that happens and eventually fix it.
Would probably help if you attach the output of update-grub there.
