No brighness control in Mageia 5 [SOLVED]

Postby asimov-solensan » Nov 29th, '15, 12:59

Hello,

I upgraded from Mageia 4 to 5 and found that brightness control stopped working in my laptop, no fn keys neither KDE screen brightness kernel. The model is a sony SVE1112M with an APU AMD E2-1800.

The only workaround I have found is to boot in kernel 3.14.43-desktop-1.mga4, where brightness control still worked.

Does anyone have got more information about the problem? Is it worth to open a bug?

Thanks in advance

Please check if any of the options from https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Mageia_3_Err ... regression helps.

For more information please also see https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Backlight to check if you can change the brightness manually.

Great! The solution from first link worked.

Just adding acpi_osi="!Windows 2012" to grub entry and I can run latest kernel with brightness control.

Thanks a lot for your help.
