I'm using a Lenovo ThinkPad W701 with Mageia 5 x86-64. I have installed VirtualBox 5. I have installed a couple of guestOS and one of them is Windows 10 and an other is Mageia 5 32-bit.
I have also installed Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack.
My problem is that I don't know how to access an USB-equipment connected to the hosts USB-connector in the guestOS.
There is no difference when I use Mageia, Windows or any other guestOS.
When I connect a Deltaco CardReader USB 2.0 it is not detected by the OS.
How to detect USB-equipment in guestOS?

Hello,

If you have not already done so, add to your user group "vboxusers" and maybe "usb".
go to Mageia Control Center=> system=> manage users on system: choose your user =>edit selected row=> choose group tab: enable usb and vboxusers=> save /ok
you may need to logout/login for changes to be applied. If you are unfortunate, a reboot will be required.
you then should be able to select from the usb device from the icon bottom right of your VBox window :

Just for completeness: the extension pack is not required for basic usb usage, it's only required for usb 2.0
