What's the correct extention for installing them. Rpm gives me an error ...

What version of Mageia are you using, how exactly did you try to install it and what exactly were the error messages?

I run the network version from a usb stick with IceWM as Desktop. It prompts me to get the latest one, then redirects me to Adobe where there're 4 options for Linux, one of those is .rpm
