Hello, folks !
Would anybody know how to customize the Gnome(3) dashboard ??? I'd like to add some launchers but it seems impossible to find any practical information on the Web, only endless verbose discussions without a solution. Newcomer from Windows, I must confess I'm a bit puzzled by the "impenetrability" of Gnome ..

Thanks for your quick answer Doktor5000. The link your give me is not meaningless but .. for creating desktop launchers, which aren't very difficult to define in Gnome, even for a Windows victim as I were still a week ago.
My problem is to put some icons in the dashboard, for instance next to the main menu or the clock. According the old discussions, we could make it in the former Gnome versions simply by "right click/drag&drop" (like in Windows) but "they" seem to have suppressed (or hide ?) all intuitive ways to customize "their" interface ..

That seems to be called favorites. Check e.g.
http://askubuntu.com/questions/370592/h ... nome-shellSo drag&drop or rightclick - add to favorites should still work.

All this information is correct, so much the less I was too elliptic on my end. In fact I was (I'm) still using the "classic" Gnome interface which is rather well hidden behind the "new" version. The "new" version only is offered by default but some distribs (like Mageia) enable to access also the "classic" interface yet. The "classic" interface looks similar the old one but many functions have been locked, or completely suppressed, and I understand now that I was wasting a lot of time looking for these lost features.
The "new" interface is not bad by itself but it asks for a SIGNIFICANT effort of adaptation. It's strongly directed to the mobile devices and the touch-sensitive screens and very disturbing for an old windows user. It has no dashboard at all like the old version but a "dock" which, yes, enables to create easily launchers (called "favorites"). That answers not too badly my question .. Thanks.

Hint: If you're an old windows user, better take a look at KDE
