[SOLVED] How to make "updates applet" visible in systemtray

Postby persistability » Aug 28th, '15, 10:33

Hi,
some time back I was on MGA3 and had no time to upgrade to MGA4 so disabled the display of the "updates applet" from the system tray (KDE).
I eventually installed MGA5, using the same "/home" partition as I was using for MGA3 and all works great. The problem I have is that the "updates applet" is not showing up in the system tray. Clearly I can bring up "Mageia Control Center" and select "Update" to get the same, but I would like to get the notifications like before.

I've looked under "System Tray Settings" and there is nothing like "updates applet" present. Also under "System Settings" -> Notifications.

Does anyone know where I can re-enable this? or which ".kde4/share/config" file it is likely to be in?

Thanks for your time

Its controlled by AUTOSTART in ~/.MgaOnline/mgaonline

Alternatively to editing the file, you may manually execute "mgaapplet -f". This will set AUTOSTART=TRUE as well as schedule the update checking.

@arnesp, thanks!

I deleted
~/.Mgaonline/mgaonline
and all works again now. Much appreciated.
