problem with passwords

Hey,

I am having a bit of dejavu, as it relates to opening the Mageia Control Center. I type in my 'root' password but it is rejected.
If I remember when this was happening before I had to reboot and then there was a possibility the MCC login screen would accept my 'root' password and i could get into it and do whatever it was I needed to do?

If this turns out to be a double posting, i apologize, but I could not find what I was looking for.
