Hi all,

How can I install a new theme ksplash in mageia 5

K Menu> System Settings> Behavior and appearance of the workspace> Appearance Workspace> tab "Splash Screen"

It would be the standard for installing themes in .tar.gz format also standard for this procedure far as I know

The button "Install theme file..." allows to install downloaded themes, and the button "Get new themes..." allows to download and install them from kde-look.org.

And I know to install, and the graphic part or manually, the case is "not all know how to do manually" and changing the location of folders in the KDE mageia brought these problems.

So not posted any theme for mageia because I apologize but the distribution forces us to use only what comes standard with these default location changes KDE

You linked to your plymouth theme, where is to relation to ksplash themes? Or do you want to create a ksplash theme in the same design?

And there has not been a change in the location of the KDE folders since a long time, as far as I'm aware.
The ksplash themes that are installed systemwide would be located under /usr/share/apps/ksplash/Themes
or for user-installed themes it would be ~/.kde4/share/apps/ksplash/Themes and that has always been the case AFAIR.
See e.g. kde4-style-bespin-ksplash for an example.

Again, you cannot install a plymouth theme (plymouth is the bootsplash when Mageia boots, between bootloader and start of X server)
as a ksplash theme (ksplash is displayed after you login in your display manager when you start KDE) - those are simply 2 totally different things.

And yes, system settings works fine to install .tar.gz ksplash themes, just tried with e.g. http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/Su ... ent=117251

If you want to create a ksplash theme, you may want to look at http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php/Ks ... ent=104456

Can be installed after renaming it to tar.gz, and test fails. If you run the dialog from a terminal via kcmshell4 ksplashthememgr
the following issue shows up when testing it

the engine is "KSplashX" for "Mageia-Ksplash-Claire"
Cannot find description.txt file.

But that's a totally different issue then you described, first you said they cannot be installed.

I did the following changes, and now it works also fine:

Renaming the theme folder from Mageia-Ksplash-Claire to only Claire helped.

but the theme is based on the workshop theme mageia org, with only a change of name and background.png
