What Mageia version and what desktop environment do you use?
What USB mode is selected in the phone, MTP or mass storage?

Please do the following after unplugging your phone - Open a terminal, and as root run:
Code: Select all
journalctl -af

then wait a few seconds, and plugin the phone, and wait again fifteen seconds or so, until no new output appears.
Then post everything here.
Cauldron is not for the faint of heart!
Caution: Hot, bubbling magic inside. May explode or cook your kittens!

As you can see there is no mention of a phone. No mention of phone from dmesg command. I tried the usb connect using android with no result. Thanks.

Just my 2 cents:

1; Is the USB cable good? As time move on I find cables are less and less reliable.

2: Do you need a physical cable connection? I've installed sshelper app (from google play, free and open source) and then can use dolphin to access the phone.

Thanks for the info. Downloaded the server. Configured from dolphin and getting a connection but it keeps cancelling after a short time. Will persist,

You did not answer the question about what usb mode is selected on the phone.

You might also want to look at https://wiki.mageia.org/en/User:Jharms/ ... V1.0-17h30
which mentions some alternative modes to access your android phone. kde-connect worked best here.

Oh. I have had no trouble since moving to Mageia 5. It wouldn't work through dolphin on Mageia 4, but through CLI sftp and ssh work fine.

Didn't work for me too, because sshelper and sshdroid and such will interactively change the home directory upon login,
but dolphin mandatorily expects you to provide a home directory (which is pretty dumb if you ask me).
Does not matter if I use fish:// or sftp://

Finally got something to work. Install ssh server from the olive tree software on my android samsung ace 2. Easy to install. Start wifi and select on android. Click green icon to start server and attach from dolphin using sftp://192.168.1.3:2222 . Worked first time perfectly. Let me know if you try it. Thanks to all for this post.

Please next time do not use fullquotes, but only use the Reply function. Greatly improves clarity and reading flow ;)
Please mark the thread accordingly by editing the topic of the first post and prefix it by [SOLVED], thanks
