you can see the temperature by typing in a console
Code: Select all
sensors

if you haven't sensors installed, you can install it typing (as root)
Code: Select all
urpmi lm_sensors

this is the result on my laptop:

Code: Select all
$ sensors
acpitz-virtual-0
Adapter: Virtual device
temp1:        +50.0°C  (crit = +98.0°C)
temp2:        +50.0°C  (crit = +98.0°C)

coretemp-isa-0000
Adapter: ISA adapter
Core 0:       +50.0°C  (high = +105.0°C, crit = +105.0°C)
Core 1:       +48.0°C  (high = +105.0°C, crit = +105.0°C)

and this is my cpu:

Code: Select all
$ cat /proc/cpuinfo

Nobody mentioned so far, but couldn't it be something like an over-amount of dust inside the machine?
