I check marked them. Told it to add/update etc. It will not let me check mark update, only enable.

I edited urpmi.cfg and got them working.

OK, installing now. Will report on Kmail and Kopete and everything else that thinks there is no network.

Without ntrack my little work around won't work. I may need to know how to get the old ones back.

mikala,

I am happy to report that kmail and kopete are both network aware after a resume. I'm going to go check things out.

qdbus org.kde.kded /modules/networkstatus org.kde.Solid.Networking.Client.Status reports 0 now.

Do I remove ntrack? Is that safe? Or is it needed for other things? Sorry you had to hold my hand but I have not dug into a Linux system in a long time. It's coming back to me a little bit.

kdebase4-runtime-devel-4.8.2-3.1.mga2.x86_64.rpm did not install as it did not show up in my update list.

When I use the files I downloaded it wants to install 85 more packages.

Do I need to do this? I very much appreciate your help and am glad I could be of assistance to you.

The -devel package is not needed, only if you want to compile stuff which needs KDE header files.

Thanks, that is what I thought Dok. This thing is working now. Akondai is set to check mail and that is also running smoothly.

Great news! I look forward to the official update that should fix the problem. I'm sorry I couldn't do more than to confirm the problem. What you guys are doing here is what Linux is all about.

I've made a bug report before but never got to be in on it. I'm impressed with the speed at which they made decisions and built an update. My little work around will get people by if they have to until they get a go ahead to put these in the main updates.

I'm going to go read about the benefits of ntrack...if there are any...If so they may fix ntrack and reverse this in a future release.

I just love Mandriva...used it for years. I know it pretty good, it is just that I have ran it so long that I didn't have to work on it so I forgot a lot of stuff. I'm no programmer but I'm studying that now. Used to do some back in the 1980's and haven't since.

The Gnome/KDE argument was settled in my mind 15 years ago...KDE is more like Windows only better...and I don't like change.

I didn't know who Mikala was and was a bit skeptical until I realized he had access to the mirrors and that ain't just everybody, so I went ahead and tested it.

Akonadi is getting the mail but I am getting no notifications. I don't think I set any...not sure. At least it knows it is online.

I open a bug report to get this tested by our QA so an update will be provided

Well, it's not "they". mikala is one of us, a part of Mageia the same as you or me (maybe a little bit more important as he's responsible f.ex. for KDE :D ) but you just need to communicate. I've pinged him to take a look here as this is a valid and reproducable issue, and that's what he did.

So thanks fly out to mikala :)

Could you please test the kdebase4-runtime (4.8.2-3.1) package (so upgrade from core/updates_testing) which came without ntrack support ?

It solves the problem for me.

Mageia 2, 64 bits.
Wired network.
Never suspend my system.

Problem occured when I shut down the internet connection, and then started it again. After reconnect, Kmail insisted on me being offline.

Thank you for a speedy resolution. Good work :)

Out of curiosity: how long time is an update normally in testing before it is released?

Best regards
Johnny :)

I'll fix it once I get back to home for cauldron because that's what you're using currently. ,;)

I can confirm that kdebase4-runtime 4.8.2-3.1 fixes the problem on Mageia 2. Everything seems to work. :)
