Well, fellas, after much finagling around trying different things I re-installed Mint and everything is working....thanks for all your support & assistance through this minor headache but I like working with distros that are ready to run without too many cryptic error message, repos that don't want to cooperate, and audio that has a mind of it's own....maybe once Mageia matures some more I'll try it again....thanks again!!
