an annoying flash video maximizing problem

Postby almusalimalmusalimah » Jul 11th, '11, 05:00

i cant explain why ........

but look at this video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlHEvPrGMlc

as you see when i tried to maximizing the video (( adobe flash player ))

the maximized video appeared behind firefox while it should do the opposite thing (( appearing at the front of it ))

so i cant see the video unless i minimizing firefox's window

and this thing will not be easy for me because as you see at the video this thing present to be successfully happened is 30% and 70% is failure as you see at the video

so is there any suggestion for me

Can not confirm this. When I click on "Full screen" in a youtube video it is shown in full screen.

Works as expected.

Browser with video playing in embedded mode:
http://www.imagenetz.de/f34a7f60b/eden_ ... 1.png.html

After click on the "Full Screen" icon the video played in full screen mode:
http://www.imagenetz.de/f762a8b5e/eden_eternal.png.html

Same goes for the Ubuntu video. BUT:
After the click on the Full Screen icon the video started "behind" the browser window - one klick on the ubuntu video screen brought the full screen display in front. No problem (except for the additional mouse click)

What graphics card do you have?

Did you try disabling desktop effects, if they're enabled?

Not the bug I had in mind then, it only pertains to nvidia cards with the proprietary driver.

Are you using Mageia 32-bit or 64-bit?
VESA or proprietary ( Nvidia ) driver/hardware?
The Adobe 64-bit Linux flash driver "square" is a little twitchy and fails on some full screen flash video content
"DISK BOOT FAILURE - INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER"

I have seen the same behavior, although only on one of the pages almusalimalmusalimah linked to (the ubuntu video).

I'm using 64-bit, nvidia proprietary driver and Square (btw: I haven't yet found a flash video on the net which did not work with Suqare but I am aware of the possible security issue).

I know this fullscreen flash problem. Happens some times with flash player "Square" and you need to Alt+Tab to
the fullscreen window. But i think i also remember this problem with nspluginwrapper.

@almusalimalmusalimah: Could you please post the output of
Code: Select all
rpm -qa | grep nsplugin
Cauldron is not for the faint of heart!

Well, than it seems to be a problem with the 3D-Desktop that you're running.
Have you tried disabling it and tried flash again?
Could you also please post the output of
Code: Select all
rpm -qa | grep flash

kipi-plugins-flashexport-1.9.0-3.mga1

When in firefox, type about:plugins in the adress bar.
Is there by any chance some other plugin for Flash/Shockwave, than adobe flash player?

And if you say "disabling kwin" what do you mean exactly? You don't need to disable kwin,
you need it for window management. And what 3D desktop effects are you using, Compiz or
KDE integrated desktop effects?

I had the same problem with kubuntu/chromium (nvidia graphics+kwin compositing+adobe square, so it may be another case) but with opera the fullscreen videos appeared correctly in the foreground. Unfortunately I have no fix or explanation, but you may also try it with opera. What I did with chromium if the video appeared in the background was moving the cursor to the top left corner to enable the "present window" effect and selected the fullscreen video "window".

It could simply be the flash-player-plugin update to Flash Player 11.

why opera did not has this problem with that version at that time

Because Opera handles flash plugin or screen output differently, maybe ...

But why are you getting confused when the problem is fixed now?

my goal here if there is a bug at mageia then i suppose that i will fill a bug report

so when i see it at the first time i thought it might be a bug at mageia packages

then i said no its might be the flash player

until Mr.blas said that he see the same problem in ubuntu and suggest opera

and when i sow the problem has been fixed with the last update i return to think

that the first thought might be correct

thats why i am getting confused !!!!! :)

=========================

any way i am glad to see the problem has been solved
