Hello,
I'm usually performing the online update, since 2000 I've reinstalled only twice (yes, I've changed computers, but usually cpio or dd followed by /sbin/lilo or grub-install kept me with the same OS), so I've tried to upgrade from Mandriva 2010.2 to Mageia 1:
$ urpmi.addmedia --distrib --mirrorlist http://mirrors.mageia.org/api/mageia.1.$ARCH.list
retrieval of [http://mageia.webconquest.com/distrib/1/i586/media/core/updates/media_info/synthesis.hdlist.cz] failed (md5sum mismatch)
problem reading synthesis file of medium "Core Updates"
but it works when $ urpmi.addmedia --distrib ftp://mageia.webconquest.com/distrib/1/i586
now, did somebody forget to sync the repo?
on the other hand, manually modyfying urpmi.cfg (with mirrorlist: http://mirrors.mageia.org/api/mageia.1.i586.list and keping the same key-ids from urpmi.addmedia --distrib ftp://mageia.webconquest.com/distrib/1/i586) and running urpmi.update -a seems to work very well indeed.
Right now it's been one week since I'm a happy full time Mageia user on an HP EliteBook 6930p. Except some issues with the fglrx, fixed with a removal of xorg.conf and a run of the binary package from ATI/AMD followed by a cleanup of dkms, everything went smooth, thank you!
Ah, and I have done a clean install, from DVD on an old Acer Aspire One with an 8GB DataTraveler 102 flash drive as / - works pretty well, thou a bit sluggish from times to times (no wonder there).
