Updating Application run via WINE [SOLVED]

Postby xboxboy » Jun 8th, '24, 14:13

For my DSLR I decided to give the manufacturer supplied software a try (yes, digikam, Rawtherapee, Darkroom etc are fantastic). To my surprise I was able to get the 32bit version to install, and open (the 64 bit wouldn't) via wine. There have since been updates, and for this application, you download the updated zip, extract it, and run the 32/64 bit updater, and your app gets updated. Well, I can get the updater app/file to open under wine, but it doesn't actually update the camera app.

I'm not even sure where to start trouble shooting this. I did a quick google, but that lead no where. Open to all ideas, I'm sure there maybe info you need.
Thanks, Xboxboy

Search "wine" in https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Mageia_9_Errata, and yo find a few open bugs to read, and this link https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Ways_to_inst ... s_programs

If no one knows more in this forum, maybe try wine forum.

And of course for the future: push the DSLR manufacturer about supplying flatpak or similar.

Ok, but what does it do ? And how do you start it in particular?

Also might be helpful to post the console output when you run the updater via wine.

Well, well. I've been sick and away.
Start the PC today, open up the app... and guess what? It's updated!!!! Let's blame the M$ requirements needing a reboot.

Marked as solved.
