Telepathy anyone?

Postby kateto » Nov 15th, '23, 11:49

Hello, this is just a poll to check whether people are using Telepathy (Plasma's instant messaging framework) at all, whether it works and is worth a try. I've only found a few posts by people complaining and uninstalling it a decade ago.
I'd like to try it with Skype and Telegram, but when I try creating IM accounts in Plasma options I only get errors.
For Skype:
This IM Account cannot be created - a Telepathy Connection Manager named 'haze' is missing or it cannot handle protocol 'skypeweb'. Please try installing haze with your package manager.

However the only installable 'haze' package (telepathy-haze) is installed.
For Telegram:
This IM Account cannot be created - a Telepathy Connection Manager named 'morse' is missing or it cannot handle protocol 'telegram'. Please try installing morse with your package manager.

However I don't find any 'morse' package.
I tried installing purple-skypeweb and purple-telegram-tdlib, but it didn't help.
It's a pity because the IM icon is taking place in my system tray, so Telepathy is actually running. Shouldn't it?

Not sure if Telepathy is capable of handling Skype as it is a proprietary app/protocol…

For installation of Telegram we have get-telegram in the repos.
For Skype we have a wiki article (have a look at the german version as the installation instruction is more sane…): https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Skype-de
