What I meant to ask is if the computer wakes up but not the screen.

I have that problem on my old workstation with Intel P55 chipset, when using nvidia proprietary driver with GTX750 GPU and desktop kernel, monitor is Philips 436M6.

Workarounds is in my case is to either
* power cycle the monitor
* use graphics driver xorg modesetting
* use our linus kernel

Hello! I had the same problem with the black screen after suspending using Mageia Gnome.
I found a very simple solution following the link below:

"Turning off 'Screen Blank' under power settings solves the issue. power settings window"

farnas, that appears to be a Gnome-specific fix. I'm sure the user went through the power options in Plasma.

Hello everyone, the problem still persists here even with Gnome, when it goes to sleep/suspend automatically, screens remains black after trying to wake it up.
I have to completely shutdown the laptop by pressing turn off button. So, in my case I can't use "Screen Blank" and "Automatic Suspend". It looks like that the problem beyond Gnome/Plasma in something else... Probably a bug!

Not waking up from hibernate at all, and waking up but failing to turn on the monitor again are pretty different I'd say.

@farnas: Please create a separate thread for your issue, and also provide some more details about your hardware (laptop or not, maker/model ...) and how your monitor is connected.

Hello @doktor5000,

I don't know how to create a separate thread yet, but I would like to share how I solved the problem:
I installed newer kernel 6.5.11 from the Cauldron/Testing repository and the problem with Suspend/Sleep is gone.
Anyway I'll test few more days until I can make sure that it's working and no other issues came up.
I use this laptop:
